Terms of Service

1. Who we are & acceptance

CEAtlas ("the Service") is operated by Compounding Energy Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17319227, with its registered office at Tanners Farm, Tanners Lane, Chalkhouse Green, Reading RG4 9AB ("we", "us"). These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, govern your access to and use of the Service. By creating an account, subscribing, or using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

CEAtlas provides interactive mapping and analytics for energy infrastructure and electricity markets — including generation assets, grid data, live and historical market data, and proprietary siting and connection metrics. Features available to you depend on your plan.

3. Eligibility & accounts

• The Service is intended for business and professional use. You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract.
• You are responsible for keeping your access key/token confidential. Anyone holding your token can use your plan; treat it like a password.
• You are responsible for activity under your account and for the accuracy of the information you provide (including your email).

4. Plans, billing & cancellation

• Subscriptions are offered on the tiers and prices shown at checkout, billed monthly or annually in advance through Stripe. Prices are in GBP and exclusive of VAT unless stated.
• Auto-renewal — subscriptions renew automatically for the same period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and you retain access until then.
• Trials — Analyst and Desk subscriptions start with a 14-day trial. A payment method is taken at checkout; the first charge is made when the trial ends. Cancel before then and nothing is billed.
• No refunds — subscription fees are non-refundable; nothing is refunded for partial or unused periods, except where the law requires otherwise. Monthly plans can be cancelled at any time and end at the close of the paid month.
• First-quarter break clause. Annual Desk plans can be cancelled at day 90 with no further payments. You pay for the first quarter; nothing is refunded; the remaining three quarters fall away. Judge us on the public scorecard for a quarter before you commit to the year.
• Price changes — we may change prices on renewal with reasonable advance notice; changes never affect a period you have already paid for.
• Taxes — you are responsible for any applicable taxes not collected by us.
• Free account — a free account needs an email address only; no card is taken. Without an account, hourly 2025, the 12 × 24 profile and the annual bars are each available for one look a day per network. The account's allowances (hourly 2025 capacity factors, the 12 × 24 profile and the annual bars at 20 coordinates a day together, and one site analysis) belong to the account, are enforced on our servers, and are not transferable. We may pause a free account that requests data in a pattern that looks automated; you can still sign in, the map, the topology layers and the resource headline stay open, and you can write to us to have it reviewed.

4a. Print posters (one-off digital purchases)

• What you buy — a print poster purchase on the poster shop is a single, one-off purchase of a high-resolution digital image file (PNG) for your own printing and use. It is not a subscription and does not auto-renew. Prices are shown per sheet at checkout in GBP and, unless stated, are exclusive of VAT.
• Licence — on payment you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to download the file and make personal or internal-business prints of it. You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute the file itself or offer it as a competing product. The underlying data-source licences in section 7 continue to apply (attribution is printed on every sheet).
• Delivery — after payment you are returned to the poster page, where a time-limited download link is issued. The same link re-issues from that page whenever you return with your Stripe receipt, subject to these terms.
• Your 14-day cancellation right and its waiver — for consumers, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give a 14-day right to cancel digital content. Because we make the file available for immediate download, that right is lost once download begins, and by starting your download you consent to this and acknowledge you lose the right to cancel. If you have paid but not yet downloaded, you may request cancellation and a full refund by emailing [refund/support address] before downloading.
• Refunds — outside the pre-download cancellation above, purchases are non-refundable except where the file is faulty, not as described, or where you have a non-waivable statutory right. If a download fails or the file is corrupt, contact us and we will re-issue the file or refund you. [Confirm the discretionary goodwill-refund window, if any.]
• Chargebacks / refunds & access — where a purchase is refunded in full or charged back, the download licence is revoked and further downloads are disabled.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• access the Service other than through the interfaces we provide, or exceed the rate/usage limits of your plan;
• scrape, bulk-extract, resell, sublicense, or redistribute data or outputs except as expressly permitted by your plan and the applicable data licences (section 7). Free-account downloads are licensed for your own use; do not redistribute them; an attribution to CEAtlas (Compounding Energy) is requested, and each file carries your account id and the time it was issued — see /licenses for the underlying data licences;
• share, resell, or transfer your access token to others outside your organisation;
• reverse engineer, probe, or attempt to bypass access controls or feature gates;
• use the Service unlawfully, to infringe others' rights, or in a way that harms or overloads the Service.

We may suspend or terminate access for breach of this section.

6. Data accuracy & no reliance

CEAtlas combines third-party and open-source datasets with our own models and estimates. It is provided "as is" and "as available" for information and screening purposes. We do not warrant that any data, score, forecast, or metric is accurate, complete, current, or fit for a particular purpose.

Outputs are not professional, engineering, legal, financial, or investment advice. You must independently verify anything material before relying on it — siting, connection, grid, market and emissions figures are estimates and must not be the sole basis for an investment, development, or engineering decision. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for decisions made in reliance on the Service.

7. Intellectual property & data licences

• The Service, its software, and our proprietary scores, models, and outputs are owned by us or our licensors. Subject to these Terms and your plan, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use them for your internal business purposes.
• Underlying datasets are provided under their own licences. Where a dataset requires attribution or imposes share-alike or other conditions, you must comply with them. See Data licences & attribution for the per-source terms.
• You retain ownership of content you create or save (e.g. your sites and pipeline data); you grant us the rights needed to host and provide it back to you.

8. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties (e.g. Stripe for payments, our hosting and map-tile providers). Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

9. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud). Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law:

• we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, data, or business; and
• our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to [the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim — confirm cap].

10. Suspension & termination

You may stop using the Service and cancel at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service. On termination, the rights granted to you end; sections that by their nature should survive (e.g. 6, 7, 9) continue to apply. Data deletion on closure is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be notified to account holders; continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of [England & Wales — confirm], and the courts of [England & Wales] have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have.
